Coppersmith Jr., 79, of Holland, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 at his home. Born in Chicago, he lived in the Holland area most of his life, retiring from General Electric in 1982. He was a member of Ventura Baptist Church. He served in the Holland National Guard, Company D, 126 Infantry Red Arrow Division during World War II and the Korean War. He was a Bronze Star recipient. Surviving are his wife, Esther: children, Terry Coppersmith of Grandville, Wayne and Susan Coppersmith of Holland, Paul Coppersmith of Holland, Dale Coppersmith, Sally Coppersmith of Moorpark, Calif., and Sue and Ike Timmer of Holland: 9 grandchildren: 2 great grandchildren: sister, Alice and Glenn Wiersma of Holland and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Sisson of Troy: nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Ave. with the Rev. Donald F. Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Holland or Ventura Baptist Church.
