Herman left for a business and vacation trip to New Mexico, stopping in Chicago for a day of two. He and Mr. THUMA left Chicago on Wednesday and later that afternoon, he was seriously injured in an automobile accident in Anawan, IL and was taken to a hospital in Genesco, IL, where his family were sent. His condition improved on Thursday and his family thought that he was on the way to recovery. His son, Paul HERMAN and daughter, Mrs. Bernard KNAUF left for home, leaving Mrs. Herman there. A sudden turn for the worse came and at 10;00, he passed away. As soon as word of his death was received in Ravenna, Mr. NOLLAR and Mrs. Wm. NUTT left for the body and Leonard BESTREM and Romaine DECAMP left for Mrs. HERMAN. The body was brought home the next day and services were held last Tuesday. He had been a prominent figure in western Michigan for many years. He had a leading automobile business and was interested in banking and farming. He had been director and vice-president of the Berlin fair. He was a booster, and his loss will be felt in the community for a long time.
