Coopersville Observer, Oct. 6, 1925
  Word was received last week Friday afternoon from Flint of the death of L. 
W. Pierce, which came as a great surprise to his many friends here.  He was 
one of our oldest and best respected citizens.  He had been in failing health 
for some time, but had been able to still get about.  He was age 77y 7m 26d.
  He was born February 6, 1848 in Detroit, MI, the son of Marshall and Rachel 
Pierce.  They came and settled in Wright Twp. in 1851.  He married January 25, 
1875 to Margaret CUMMINGS of Muskegon, who preceded him in death six years 
ago.  They had 3 children: Raymond PIERCE of Kalamazoo; Ralph, who died in 
infancy; and Mrs. Frank FITZGERALD of Flint.  Funeral services were held in 
the M. E. Church here Monday afternoon.
