Shavalier, president of the Common Council of Ravenna and a member of the school board, was killed instantly Saturday when the little gasoline motor car on which he and W. C. HOUGH, station agent of Ravenna, were traveling from Conklin to their hometown, was struck by the electric car on the Pennslyvania Railroad, near the Crockery Creek bridge near Ravenna. HOUGH saved himself by jumping and had shouted a warning to Shavalier, who apparently didn't hear. HOUGH escaped with cuts and bruises. Funeral services were held on Monday.
