Ethel Harriet Sitzer, age 88, of Grand Haven, passed away Friday, November 27, 
2009, at a local care facility. She was born April 17, 1921, in Greenville, MI, 
to Jess and Githa (Grumns) Fosburg, and she married Lyle E. Sitzer on October 
19, 1946 in Ohio. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1996. 

Ethel loved to go camping and taking walks, and enjoyed spending time with her 
family and grandchildren. 

She is lovingly remembered by her 2 sons, Roger (Sandy) Sitzer of Conklin, MI, 
and Jerry (Karen) Sitzer of Grand Haven; daughter-in-law, Paula Sitzer-Vollmer 
of Grand Haven; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her son, Larry; 
step-son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Marilyn Sitzer; and step-daughter, Shirley 
Derosha; also 3 sisters and 3 brothers. 

The funeral service for Ethel will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 
2009, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. 
Lorie Shier officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the 
service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Saranac Cemetery in Saranac, 
MI. Memorial contributions in Ethel’s name may be made to Hospice of North 
Ottawa Community or the American Cancer Society. Share memories with the family
