Born March 11, 1910, he was a lifetime resident of Holland. At age 13, he and his father, John, began a gasoline business on Eighth Street, later moving their business, Yocum's Place, to Chicago Drive. He was later employed by H.J. Heinz from 1967-75. He was a member of the Holland Fish and Game Club, the Fraternal Order of Police, and Fourth Reformed Church. A great-granddaughter, Rachel Ott, preceded him in death oct. 24, 1990. Surviving are his wife, Alice; his children, Shirley and Terry Beck of Holland, Patti and Kurt Schonfeld of Holland, Mary and Daniel Martinovich of Grandville, and Bruce and Denise Woldring of Holland; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Services are planned 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fourth Reformed Church, with the Rev. Keith Larson officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
