Anje (Popkes) Smedenga born in 1826 in Leens Netherlands died Feb 22 1892 in 
Ottawa Co MI. Her husband Jan Smedenga is buried next to her but his tombstone 
is broken and unreadable except for a couple letters. (Jan Pieters Smedenga 
was born Dec 22 1828 in Warffum, Netherlands and died Mar 13 1881 in Ottawa 
Co. MI. Anje and Jan married Oct 18 1856 in Warrfum, Groningen Netherlands and 
came to the US with their children Jan 2 1866 on the ship Asia which departed 
from Rotterdam, Netherlands and arrvied in New York. The following children 
are listed as with them, Jantje 7, Aaltje 6, Groetje 4, Jamia 11 months.
