The top of the stone is inscribed in german with the words "Hier ruhen in Gott". Beneath the inscription the stone is divided into two sections with the words "Father, Carl, July 2, 1843, July 10, 1927" inscribed on the left, and the words "Mother, Wilhelmine, July 4, 1851, July 2, 1940" inscribed on the right. The surname "Schalk" is deeply incised within a banner across the bottom the the tablet. Carl Schalk July 2, 1843 - July 10, 1927 Wilhelmine Schalk July 4, 1851 - July 12, 1940 Additional Comments: There are two couples with the same first and surnames buried at St. Michaels - please take note of the dates if you are using this photo for verification of an ancestor.
