Burial place for John Frederick Gorte and his wife Katherine Elisabeth 
Fischer. They were both born in the ancestral village of Reinwald, Samara, 
Volga Russia. They arrived in the US on March 22, 1902 aboard the SS Assyria 
out of Hamburg.

They were part of a large group from Reinwald with an eventual destination of 
Sheboygan, WI. The families worked in the beet fields from Conn. to Michigan 
to WI. Eventually Fred and his family settled in Saginaw, MI. He is my 
paternal greatgrandfather.
