Johann Adam List was born on December 25, 1814 in Rosstal, Bavaria (Germany). 
In 1846 Adam and his wife Margaretha Mueller journeyed to Frankenmuth, Michigan 
as part of a second group of about 90 emigrants to perform missionary work. His 
brother Johann George List and his wife Maria Lotter arrived about a year 
earlier. Adam died on February 07, 1874 and was buried at St. Lorenz Lutheran 
church in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The two brothers are buried at the location of 
the original church while their wives are buried across the street next to the 
current church.
