Located in section 22, Argyle Twp., Sanilac Co. MI. On east side of Ubly Rd. (M-19) approximately one and a half mile south of Argyle, MI. Trinity Lutheran church which was located in front of the cemetery was closed in the 1950’s the church building no longer exists. Ten acres of land for the church and cemetery were donated by Frederick “William” Behr. Where the church sat is now a private residence. Access to the cemetery is along the north side of this yard of this residence. The cemetery cannot be seen from the road and there is no sign indicating where it can be accessed from. It is located north of the Argyle Township Cemetery. Read October 11, 2008 by Margaret Wegner and Jesse Willerton. Read from front to back and north to south. Information in brackets ( ) was gathered from other sources. No transcription has been found for this cemetery and it is unknown how many gravesites exist. In addition a Lutheran cemetery in Section 36 (three-quarters of a mile east of Freiburger Road) was vacated in the 1930’s and most of the graves were transferred to Trinity Lutheran cemetery to be re-buried. No record has been found to identify those transferred. The cemetery is mostly overgrown with trees and bushes. A few gravesites are being maintained by family. Neil was the son of Neil Colgan, Cora was the daughter of Allen & Sarah Kilbourn) To the south of these crosses are woods extending to the north property line of the property owner who lives south of the cemetery. Throughout these woods are several depressions which are graves that have no markers. Aged 31yrs, 5mos. 31dys “rest in peace” Lawson monument “asleep in Jesus” Lawson, Mary 1875 – 1917 mother (widow of Gustave Faltinowski; remarried to Frederick Lawson) Hartel, Wilhelmina died 1891 aged 17 years dau. of W. & A. Hartel (William and Amelia Hartel) small cross & stone (Hartel infant) Hartel, William born Feb. 5, 1824 – died Oct. 4, 1899 small cross & stone (Hartel infant) (? ), Albert died Jan. 4, 1892 aged 42 years, 2mos., 19days (stone is broken into three pieces) Laing, Herman Nov. 6, 1857 – Oct. 17, 1895 aged 38 yrs. (husband of Johanna Shagena). Stone is broken at the base. A cement and fieldstone marker sits at the back southeast corner of the cemetery. The following are persons reported to be buried here, no stones or markers could be found for them.
