These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. ___________________________________________________________________ William Fockler William Fockler was the son of Daniel Fockler and Mary orton and was born July 7, 1852 (info from Gravestone Downing Cemetery) in Whitchurch Township, York County, Ontario, very likely near the hamlet of Lemonville (Lot 8 Concession 7 of Whitchurch Township). He died 28 September, 1912 at Deckerville of Bright's Disease and a series of strokes and is buried in Downing Cemetery. In December 1875 when his daughter Mary was born he lived in Marion Township. In the 1876 atlas of Sanilac County, William is shown as owning 80 acre in Secion 36 Marion Township and Section 28 Wheatland Township. (he only owned one of these at one time, owning the land in Marion Township prior to the land in Wheatland Township. (one mile west of Deckerville on the north side of the road). He lived in Marion Township until after 1883 In the 1884 Sanilac County Atlas he is shown as owning land in Section 28 Wheatland Township, the North East 1/4 of the North East 1/4 (40 acres) and the North East 1/4 of the South East 1/4 (40 acres). In the 1906 atlas he still owned the 80 acres plus 40 acres in Section #27 (North West 1/4 of the North West 1/4). He was a farmer all his life.
