Irene Guigar
Mrs. Irene Guigar, 92, of Bad Axe and formerly of Ubly, passed away Tuesday 
evening, April 29, 2008 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.

Irene was born Jan. 31, 1916 in Minden Township to the late Gutleif and Mary 
(Klardig) Pelot.

She married Henry Guigar Sept. 19, 1931 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in 
Freiburg. He preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1976.

Irene was a graduate of a country school. She farmed with her family and then 
worked at Clements Wire for 20 years, retiring in 1978. Irene was a lifelong 
parishioner of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg and an former member of 
the St. Ignatius Altar Society. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, playing euchre and 
visiting with family and friends.

Irene is survived by one son, Robert Guigar and his wife, Barbara, of Ubly; one 
daughter, JoAnn Pelot and her husband, Robert, of Westland; 12 grandchildren; 18 
great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one daughter-in-law, Marcy 
Guigar of Royal Oak.

Irene was preceded in death by one son, Gerald on June 10, 1993; one grandson, 
Todd Guigar Sr.; three great-grandchildren; four brothers; and three sisters. 
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at St. Ignatius Catholic 
Church in Freiburg. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will 
be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home 
in Ubly, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church only. There will be a 
parish vigil service at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
