He was born Dec. 30, 1916 in Detroit to the late Lawrence and Theresa (O'Parka) Lamke. He married Irene Zurek on Aug. 27, 1938, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Ervin farmed in Parisville. He worked for Murray Bodies in Detroit for six years. He was a custodian at St. Mary's. He and Irene moved to Tyre in 1943, where he was a member of the school board. He was the owner of Lemke Body Shop for many years. He was employed at Active Industries for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a parishioner at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly since 1943. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Bad Axe Council No. 1546. He loved to dance, play cards, fish with his grandchildren, and play his violin at the Argyle Senior Dinners. Ervin, after a beautiful marriage of 67 years, is survived by his wife, Irene, of Ubly; one son, Albert Lemke and his wife, Doris, of Ubly; one daughter-in- law, Carol Lemke of Ubly; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mamie "Marie" Peruski of Ubly, Evelyn Susalla and her husband, Jacob, of Ubly, Arlene Longuski and her husband, Jerry, of Ubly; four brothers, Cass Lamke and his wife, Ruby, of Bad Axe, Elmer Lamke of Ubly, Eugene Lamke and his wife, Mildred, of Parisville, Richard Lamke and his wife, Barbara, of Ubly. He was preceded in death by two infant sons; an infant daughter, Mary; one son, Eugene Lemke; one brother, Raymond Lamke; one brother-in-law, Frank Peruski. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today, from 1 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. There will be a joint rosary at 7 p.m. today by the Knights of Columbus and the Daughters of Isabella, and a parish vigil service at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Both services will be at the funeral home.
