He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah McCreary at Big Rapids 1880. He came to Evergreen township, this county, March 19, 1885, where he passed through the hardships of pioneer life. He with a few others organized the first M.E. Sunday school in Evergreen township, and lived to see much fruit of his labors. His wife preceded him in death August 24, 1902. His second marriage was in September 1911 to Mrs. Huldah Freeland. She also preceded him in death September 28, 1923. Mr. McGregory died after a short illness at the old homestead, where he settled 40 years ago, March 23, 1925, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, 9 days. He leaves to mourn three brother, Frank, of Yale; Smith of Cass city; Cyrus of Detorit; three sons, Frank of Farmington, Vern and Harvey of Decker; two step daughters, Mrs. A.L. Sinarrard of Decker; Mrs. Percy Spencer of Memphis. six grand children and two great granchildren. The funeral services were held from the Shabbona M.E. church, Wenesday, March 25. He was laid to rest in the Evergreen cemetery. Although he has gone from our midst his life will live on. Mr. McGregory's death was a great shock to his many friends and neighbors who held him in high esteem for his noble character and his great friendship to all. _________________________________________________________________ Sanilac county Asa McGregory died at Shabbona Monday Asa McGregory passed away at his home at Shabbona on Monday morning, March 23, after being a citizen of that community for 40 years. He had been suffering with heart trouble for the past mont. Funeral services were held at the Shabbona M. E. church on Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in Evergreen cemeter. Asa McGregory was born in Canada on April 14, 1846. He came to Michigan about 45 years ago, settling near Big Rapids. Here he was united in marriage and a few years later, mr. And Mrs. McGregory moved ot Evergreen township, settling on a farm one mile south of Shabbona. Three sons were born to them. Mrs. McGregory passed away at he farm home. About three years ago, Mr. McGregory left the farm to mke his home in Shabbona. Here he was married a second time, Mrs. Huda Hulbert being the bride. Mr. McGregory has for many years been a member of the M.E. church at Shabbona. Besides a widow, he leaves three sons, Frank of Farmington, Verne of Decker and Harvey of Evergreen township and three brother, P.S. Mcgregory Cass City, Francis McGregory Brockway and Cyrus McGregory Detroit. dz
