Edna was born on March 15, 1925 in Helena to the late Leo and Clara (Booms) Roggenbuck. She married Anthony George Roth at Saint Anthony Catholic in Helena on June 5, 1946. Tony and Edna settled on the family dairy farm where they worked together raising a rambunctious family of 4 daughters and 9 sons. Edna was an active member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Palms, and she and Tony made many visits to Autumnwood serving as Eucharistic ministers. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and playing euchre. Having active boys guaranteed a constant pile of jeans with holes in the knees requiring many hours at the sewing machine patching them. The farm provided lots of fresh milk, beef, and veggies from the garden and she always had a yummy dessert ready to put a sweet finish to the endless meals she prepared. She wore out more than one wringer washing machine and the girls spent many hours helping hang the wash out on the lines, bringing it in for folding and putting away. The fragrance of newly mowed hay, sunshine fresh laundry, the antics of her children, and supper roasting in the oven were simple joys of her busy daily life. She and Tony had many friends who enjoyed gathering for euchre games, and retirement life became less noisy and chaotic as the kids left the nest and pursued careers in nursing, chiropractic’s, acupuncture, farming, computer science, accounting, welding and mechanics. Edna’s memory was failing when she lost her Tony and she stayed with family until she required more care and she moved into Meadow Lanes Assisted Living where she received wonderful care for nearly 13 years.
