He was B. Frank Wharfield age 82 years, who came to Manistique years ago when the town was a young lusty sawmill community. Death was caused by a paralysis of the throat. Mr. Wharfield was born August 20, 1854 in Wyandotte, Mich, and had spent thegreater part of his life in this community. He had never married. He was well known throughout the county, and until a few years ago was a great hunter and fishermen. Up until he became ill a year ago, he operated a private information bureau at the corner of Deer Street and Chippewa avenue. At one time he was an enthusiastic member of the local rod and gun club and he also served several terms as a member of the city and county law enforcing organizations. The body was prepared for burial by Sven Johnson, funeral director and was returned to the home of a niece; Mrs. John Larion, 202 Chippewa Avenue, with whom he had recently resided. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon from the Larion home with Rev. J.C. Nelson, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeview cemetery. He is survived by the following nephews and nieces: Mrs. John Larion, John Hughson, Ed Hughson of Manistique; Henry Hughson of Detroit; Robert Hughson of Detroit; Hubert Smith of Sault Ste. Marie; Mrs. Percy Jordan of Sault Ste. Marie; and Mrs., Rhodes of Logansport, Ind.
