This photograph marks a very large family plot for the Wharfield family who lived in and around Manistique, Schoolcraft County, Michigan. The plot is very large and holds the markers for George Wharfield, his brothers James B. and Benjamin Franklin Wharfield. His Mother Mary Ann Wharfield is buried there and although there is no marker anymore to prove it, old cemetery records list his father Henry as being buried there. It is believed that his sister Mary Wharfield Hughson is also buried there without a headstone. George Wharfield who is named on the main headstone was born in Wayne County, Michigan on April 29, 1851 and died in Wayne County, on October 22, 1908.
