It was chosen by him to be the resting place of his grandson, Chester Gray who died at age 6. Samuel Marks was a Civil War Veteran in Company H of the 110th New York Volunteers. He also died in 1893, at age 74 and is buried here. A 40 acre parcel was added by an act of Congress in 1896. The cemeterys peck grave no.s were between 75 - 100. The cemetery became inactive in 1912, & slowly fell to the rigors of time and was somewhat forgotten. Then in 2000, Bryan Landis of Cooks & Boy Scout Troop 400 decided he would undertake the job of restoring and cleaning up of the cemetery for a project undertake. The job of restoring and cleaning up of the cemetery for a project to earn his Eagle Scout rank. He along with many other volunteers spent countless hours bringing the cemetery back up to par. He later found out, Samuel Marks was his great, great, great, great grandfather. He also earned his Eagle Scout Rank.
