ALTON G. DENNIS
   Alton G. Dennis, a familiar face at county fairs in Michigan, Ohio and 
Indiana at which he sold cotton candy during the last 20 years, died Wednesday 
at Memorial Hospital.
   Mr. Dennis was 86 and lived at 401 N. Baldwin Rd. He had been ill for 
several months and death was attributed to complications.
   The funeral will be held from the 7th Day Church of God on South M 52 
Saturday at 4p.m. with Pastor Max Marrow officiating and burial in Mt. Rose 
Cemetery. The body rests at Scarletts Funeral Home where friends may visit 
Friday from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
   The son of George and Ada Dennis, he was born in Sheppardsville on Jan. 20, 
1893 and went to school in Colony in Clinton County. He lived in Shiawassee 
and Clinton counties most of his life.
   Mr. Dennis married Ruth Miller on Dec. 19, 1936 in Kokomo, Ind. And Doris 
McNeal on June 23, 1976 in Owosso.
   He worked for the Chevrolet Motors Assembly Plant, Chrysler and St. Johns 
Wheel Works over the years, as well as selling cotton candy at county fairs 
for 20 years.
   He was also a member of the Council On Aging and of the Salvation Army 
Golden Agers.
   Survivors include his wife, Doris; one Daughter, Doris of Detroit; one son, 
Donald of Ann Arbor; two stepsons, John Miller of Flint and Albert Miller of 
Racine, Wisc., and several grandchildren.

Alton first married: Thelma I Jacobs, 04 Apr 1915 at Ovid, Clinton County; 
Alton then married: Hattie Hoskey, 12 Dec 1923 at Flint, Genesee County.
