Thurs 7 Dec 1916, p.6 Aged Morrice Man Dies of Injuries From an Accident W. O. MORRICE[sic], Prominent in Shiawassee Village for Years Morrice, Mich., Dec. 7.--W. O. MORRIS, aged 70 years, died at his home here in town Wednesday afternoon after an illness of nearly four weeks due to an accident which occurred while working in a shop in Lansing. Mr. MORRIS leaves a wife and one son, the latter Charles MORRIS of Gaines, also a grandson Elwin[sic] MORRIS, who is a member of the United States navy. Mr. MORRIS came here in 1890 [to Morrice] and has acted as justice of peace here and was familiarly known as "Judge" MORRIS on this account. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge at this place, and a member of the Methodist church here, also has been a trustee in the church for several years. Thurs 7 Dec 1916, p6.] Additional Comments: William Oscar MORRIS was born in Niagara Co., N.Y., the youngest known son of Joseph MORRIS and Mariah SHELLEY. He came to Shiawassee Co., MI between 1875 and 1880, first living in Vernon, then moving to Perry Twp. ca 1890. He was married in Niagara Co., N.Y. to Lavinia WINCHESTER, daughter of Joseph WINCHESTER and Sarah BECKETT. They had 3 known children: Charles S., William W. and Louis Elton.
