His wife is buried next to him. He and his son LaGrande were the last owners of the first brick house in Vernon which stood on the hill next to the Shiawassee River near the Greenwood cemetery. The house was torn down in 1965 to enlarge the Cemetery. There is a plaque memorial to the house on the cemetery grounds. A descendent of "Uncle De's" is the sexton at the cemetery. He is very helpful with information about the cemetery.
