Inter Ocean December 7, 1887
Lansing, Mich., Dec. 6-Special Telegram-The Michigan Sanhedrim, a secret
organization of newspaper men, is in session here today. The object of the
society is to devise ways and means for the better protection of the press in
business and other directions. Representatives are present from Indiana and
Wisconsin. A similar organization will be made in the latter state at once. 
Frank Godfrey, of the State Republican, entertained members at the Lansing House
this evening.

Transcribers Note: Frank Godfrey was the son of Hiram Godfrey of Tompkins,
Michigan. Frank Godfrey is my great grandfather. His first wife was Amelia
Turner, daughter of Aaron B. Turner of Grand Rapids. His second marriage was to
Mary Elizabeth Trout of Maquoketa, Iowa. 

The State Republican is now the Lansing State Journal. 

Any information regarding the Godfrey's of Michigan would be appreciated.
