July 1. - The district school meeting was opened today at 2 o'clock and the polls were held open six hours, making practically an all day election. Under the Michigan school law women can vote, and committees of ladies were on hand and remained all day. The contest, though good (not legible), was one of the hottest ever held in the district. The women were as active working as the men, and gave practical illustration of female suffrage. Thirteen hundred votes were case, 600 of them by women. Additional Comments: I am searching for additional articles on the suffrage movement, my great great aunt, Grace Wilbur Trout was an activist in Chicago.
