The family name was Hoogstraat in Germany and some members changed it to Highstreet once in the USA.) Well Known Man died Sunday Mr. George Highstreet, 63, died at his home here Sunday, after a six weeks illness. Mr. Highstreet was born in Upledward, Germany, in 1866 and came to this country in 1892. He settled on a farm, which had since been his home, west of Algonac. He was a member of the local I.O.O.F. lodge, and was well known throughout this vicinity. Besides his many friends and neighbors he is survived by his widow, and seven children; two daughters, Mrs. C.B. Vickery of Algonac and Mrs.. Fred Johnson of Marinton, Ill.; five sons, Andrew, Henry, William, Thomas and Karl all of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Meints of Weston, Ill., and Mrs. Jennie Sparenburg of Visquard, Germany, and one brother, Uffe, of Algonac. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Church of Christ, with Rev. Hamilton officiating. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.
