  Rose M. Kern
  {prt Huron - Rose M. Kern, 86, died Monday, April 30, 1990.
  She was born April 12, 1904 in Austria and had been an area resident for 
more than 50 years.  She was the daughter of the late Mihaly (Michael) Mautner 
& Agnes Werner. She married Edward F. Kern, Sept. 5, 1933 in St. Louis, MO.  
He died April 14, 1977.
  Mrs. Kern attended St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Port Huron.  She owned 
and operated 'Rose's Beauty Shop' at 18 Taylor Street.  She moved to St. 
Louis, MO. from Austria as a teen-ager to live with her parents.  She lived 
with her sister in Jennings. MO since leaving Port Huron in 1978.  She was a 
resident of Marwood Manor from March 1989 to April 30, 1990.
  She is survived by sons and daughters-ln-law, Francis L (Loretta) Kern, and 
Charles R (Dee) Kern of Port Huron, Edward C Kern of Bayport; former daughter-
in-law, Helen Miller-Kern of Port Huron; grandchildren, Mark Kern, Debra Kern, 
Gregory Kern, Michelle Kern and Bob Kern; step-granddaughter, Nancy Kern; 
Edward and LeEllen Crawford, several great grandchildren; one sister, Lee  
Sinclair of Jennings; and one brother, Bill (Mary) Mautner of St. Louis, MO.
  Mrs. Kern was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Sidney Sinclair, St. 
Louis, MO, and Rex Crawford of Sebewaing, Mich.
  A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Hope Cemetery 
Chapel. Rev. Frederick A. Boddey of St. Stephen's Catholic Church will 
officiate.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Additional Comments:
Note: The Crawford children noted where children of Helen Miller-Kern prior to 
her marriage to Edward C. Kern.  Rose M. Kern did NOT have any g-grandchildren 
at the time of her death. However, the Crawford children noted were embraced 
as part of the Kern family.
