Mrs. McGregory was born in the State of Ohio, Dec. 28th, 1850, and in the year 1879 she was born of the Spirit and adopted into the family of God and united with the U.B. church at Big Rapids, Michigan. She was united in marriage to Mr. McGregory Sept. 7th , 1881, to which union were given two sons, Vernie and Harry, who still survive to mourn their great loss. In the year 1884 they moved to Shabbona'when the Methodist Church was established here Mrs. McGregory united with it and until the time of her "going home" was an earnest and faithful worker in all the branches of the church; for years holding the position of teacher of the Primary Class in the Sunday School and was loved by the little people as few teachers are. On the morning of Aug. 10th Mrs. McGregory for the last timetaught her class, talking to them so sweetly of Jesus and his power to help and save. In the class-meeting following she testifiied very joyfully to her assurance of full salvation. Two weeks from that morning, Aug. 24th, the Master called her home and with her lst breath she testified to the power of christianity over death, assuring her friends tha "all was well" and that she would "soon be in glory." Besides her husband and three sons she leaves an aged father, four sisters and two brother to mourn, and a whole community who do homage to her noble, womanly, Christian character, always exemplifying the hymn she loved so well: "I'll do as He bids me whatever the cost. I'll be a true solider I'll die at my post." The funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. M.W. Gifford, of cass City. from II Tim. 4:6. The remains were followed to the grave by a large concourse of people at the head of which were the A.O. O.G., of which order she was a member. _________________________________________________________________ Sanilac county Obituary of Mrs. Asa McGregory Mrs. Asa McGregory departed this life early Friday morning, Sept. 28, after an illness of nearly three weeks.
