He was born Nov. 8, 1912 in Goodells. He married Merle Olive King. She died Dec. 9, 1997. Mr. Olsen was employed by the Chrysler Corporation at Marysville, MI for 35 years as a carpenter until retirement in 1975. He was a noted historian and story teller. Reg was known for his woodworking and love of the outdoors. He was also a dairy and crop farmer. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Olsen of Goodells; his son, Jim Olsen of Wickenburg, AR; his daughter, Pam and Earl Banks of Utica; his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria D. and Bill DeWees of California; his grandson, Erik Banks of Farmington Hills; and granddaughter, Julie Banks of Portage, MI. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today in the Arthur Smith Funeral Home, 1230 Seventh St. The Rev. Stan Liechty of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ted Hopps, Sharon Hoskins, Erik Banks, Ray Sutphen, Dick Campbell and Jack Hennessey. Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice.
