GERRISH was born in the State of Maine. His parents removed from there when he was an infant and made their residence at Pittsford, N. Y., where he remained until he was nine-teen years old. He then went to Erie, Pa. He studied for a while at Allegheny College, Crawford County. Pa. He then commenced to learn the profession of civil engineer in Erie County, and followed it for about three years. He afterward spent some five years in Ashtabula County and Kingsville, Ohio. In 1867 or '68 he re-moved to Tuscola County, Mich., and located in the village of Centerville, now Caro. He has been a justice of the peace four years and town treasurer one year. As resident member of the commit- tee appointed to supervise the building of the present court-house he superintended the construction of that building. He is now, aside from practicing his profession, engaged in the Insurance and real estate business. He is married and has two sons.
