NETTLETON was born in Penfield, Monroe County, N. Y., in 1833. In 1835 his father went with his family to Geauga County Ohio. The family consisted of four sons and four daughters, and Mrs. Nettleton. Benjamin F. lived in Ohio until 1856, when he came to Tuscola County, settling in what is now Juniata Township. He lived in that township for about twenty years, during which he followed his trade, that of a carpenter and joiner. He also cultivated a farm. In 1875 he disposed of his farm and purchased the Exchange Hotel in Caro, and has since kept the house. That the house is a good one is an assertion that finds proof in the fact that it has a large home patronage. In addition to hotel keeping he has also been for years interested in lumbering. He held the office of highway commissioner for three years, also was a constable. In 1862 was married to Mary J. Ensign, a native of Ohio, but a resident of Juniata. They have had six children, only one of whom, a daughter, is now living.
