RYAN, dealer in millinery goods, was born in Roscommon County, Ireland. Her father, who was a provision dealer, also a stone mason, emigrated with his family to Canada. He lived for a number of years in London, Ont., also in St. Mary's. Miss Ryan learned her business in London, Ont. In 1867 she was living at St. Mary's, but left there and came to the United States, living for about a year in Flint before coming to Caro. She opened a millinery establishment, and has continued in that business up to the present (1883) year. Miss Ryan has also done her part to aid in the growth and prosperity of Caro, having built two stores on State Street; one a brick and the-other a wooden structure.
