(Special to The Daily Journel) Caro, Michigan, January 25,------Friends of Mrs. Samuel Perkins, the 20 year old bride of Samuel Perkins, who committed suicide at East Dayton Saturday night, are afraid that the young lady may lose her reason as a result of the sudden shock. Mrs. Perkins was formerly Miss Gladys Tong. Insanity is the only plausible reason which can be assigned as the cause of Perkins' unfortunate act. The couple had been married only since January 12. The groom was 38 years old and his bride 18 years younger. Immediately after the wedding they went to Detroit for a short visit with relatives. Had Head Pains Previously Mrs. Perkins says that no trouble arose between them at any time which would account for her husband's act. Their short married life had been very happy, she stated. On the way home from Detroit, however, her husband complained several times of a severe pain in his head. Several years ago Perkins is said to have experienced similiar pains in his head and at that time he acted very strangely for several days. It is thought this must have returned with the result that he lost his reason, and committed suicide. Perkins' body was found in a barn near his home several hours after the fatal act had been done. The razor with which he cut his throat lay in the snow just outside the door. Kalamazoo Gazette Kalamazoo, Michigan January 23, 1910 KINGSTON---Sam Perkins, 40 , a resident of East Dayton, took his own life Friday night by cutting his throat with a razor. The man is thought to have been demented. He was married only last Monday to Miss Gladys Tong, of East Dayton.
