He was 49. He was born June 21, 1939, in Caro and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1957, Caro High School graduate and served in the U S Marines from 1957- 59 in the Pacific. He had been employed at Century Telephone Co. since June of 1960; recently as Network Design Supervisor in Pinconing. He married Norma G. Dinsmore, September 30, 1961 in Gilford. He was active in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro as past elder and secretary, junior youth group counselor and usher. For more than 30 years he was active with the Boy Scouts. He was assistant Scout Master to Caro Troop No 560. He was a former member of Caro Jaycees and involved in the Tuscola County Conservation Club, Caro Baseball Federation, board member of Car-Mar Games, Caro School Music boosters, and Keyman for the Department of Natural Resources Fire Service. In 1975, he retired as captain of the Caro Fire Department after 14 years of service. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Alan K Rickwalt and his fiancee Jerlyn Ramey, both of Big Rapids, and Brian R Rickwalt of home; three daughters, Melissa Ann Rickwalt and susan RNA Rickwalt, both of Caro, and Kimberly J Rickwalt and her fiancé, Michare Fuller, both of Ann Arbor; his mother, Mrs. Fred Rickwalt of Caro, three brothers, Dean and David L Rickwalt, both of Caro, and Donald Rickwalt of Texas; two sisters, Ruth Rowell of Caro and Carolyn Rickwalt of Saginaw; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His father, Frederick Carl Rickwalt, predeceased him in 1965; one brother, Robert Rickwalt, in 1968. Funeral services were Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro, with the Rev. Thomas T Haller officiating. Military graveside services were conducted at Almer Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund or Caro Boy Scout Troop No 560. Huston and Ransford Funeral Home in Caro provided funeral services. MIRIAM RICKWALT CARO Miriam Rickwalt died early Friday afternoon, November 21, 1997 at Caro Community Hospital. She was 90. Sarah Miriam Horner was born September 9, 1907, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Ella C (Lewis) Horner, near Deford and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Cass City High School and Tuscola County Normal School, teaching for several years in area rural schools. She received her teaching certificate from Eastern College in 1931; teaching until 1935. She returned to teaching in the early 1950s at the Akron-Fairgrove Schools, at Sacred Heart School in Caro and then in Kingston schools where she retired in 1973. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro, its Women's Association and had taught vacation Bible School. She also had been very active with the Caro Community Hospital Auxiliary for many years, for 20 years or so in the hospital gift shop and with the American Red Cross Blood Bank for 25 years. She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and a former member of the Caro BPW and the Van Winkle club. She was married to Frederick Carl Rickwalt on May 27, 1933 in Caro. He predeceased her on October 27, 1965. Survivors include two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Ruth Rowell of Caro, Don and Joan Rickwalt of Conroe, TX, David and Margaret Rickwalt of Caro and Carolyn Rickwalt of Saginaw; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Lewis Horner of Essexville and Maxine Graham of Caro; two daughters in-law, Penny Rickwalt of Bois Blanc Island and Norma Rickwalt of Caro and several nieces, nephews and her dear friend, Anna Miklovic of Caro. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three sons, Robert in 1968, Keith in 1988 and Dean in 1995; also three brothers and one sister, Romney, Keith and Audley Horner and Edna Wethers and a son-in-law, Ralph Rowell in 1996. Funeral services was held Monday, November 24 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Hollender officiating and burial in the Almer Twp Cemetery in Caro. Memorials may be made to the Caro Community Hospital Auxiliary. Funeral arrangements were by Ransford Funeral Home of Caro. Tuscola County Advertiser Henry M. Rickwalt Dies Suddenly on theLast Day of the Year Funeral Services Were Held Wednesday Afternoon for Henry M. Rickwalt of Almer. HENRY M RICKWALT, well known Almer township farmer, died suddenly Sunday, December 31, 1939, at the barn at his home on M81 near the Almer cemetery. He had gone to feed his dogs, and when he did not return very promptly, Mrs. Rickwalt went to look for him, and found his lifeless body where he had fallen. Death was caused from rheumatism of the heart. Born in Illinois, March 11 1879, Mr. Rickwalt was four years of age when he came with his parents to Wells Township. He was married June 7, 1905, to Caroline Borck at Mayville, who with five children survives. The children are Fred Rickwalt, Miss Leona Rickwalt, Mrs. John Brock of Caro; Mrs. Otto Allen, Pueblo, Colo.; and Mrs. Frank Davison, Detroit. He also leaves two brothers, Louis of Canyon City, Colo., and Albert, of Wells; two sisters, Mrs. John Humes, Almer, and Mrs. Louis Beaverford, Detroit; and seven grandchildren. Until 1920, when the family moved to the present home in Almer, he was a resident of Wells township. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran Church, of which he was a member.
