The name “Chadwick” is inscribed near the base, and the top of the monument bears the inscription: JOHN CHADWICK BORN JULY 6, 1828 DIED FEB. 6, 1902 Father has gone but not forgotten. There are eight burials on this lot: John Chadwick (July 6, 1828 – February 6, 1902); John’s wife Louisa (Lambert) Chadwick (1834 – October 1923); John and Louisa’s son John Ansel “Ansel” Chadwick (May 21, 1853 – February 11, 1938); Ansel’s wife Persis Elizabeth (Slafter) Chadwick (May 12, 1858 – July 28, 1932); John and Louisa’s daughter Delsa (Chadwick) Phillips (1855 – July 1946); Delsa’s husband Robert Phillips (March 1, 1845 – March 4, 1905); and two of Ansel and Persis Chadwick’s sons, Claude Chadwick (July 1879 – July 1904) and Guy Chadwick (February 26, 1884 – September 29, 1886). Each has a cemetery grave marker. Note: John Chadwick’s grave marker is inscribed with the dates 1829 – 1902, whereas the inscription on the top of the monument shows July 6, 1828 – Feb. 6, 1902.
