JOHN
CHADWICK
1829 - 1902

John Chadwick (July 6, 1829 – February 6, 1902) was the husband of Louisa 
(Lambert) Chadwick (1834 – October 1923).  John and Louisa had three 
children:  John Ansel “Ansel” Chadwick, who married Persis Elizabeth Slafter; 
Delsa Irena Chadwick, who married Robert Phillips; and Americus V. Chadwick, 
who married Emma S. Houghton.   

John’s grave marker is on the John Chadwick family lot in Block F, Sec 22 of 
Riverside Cemetery.  Also buried on this lot are John’s wife Louisa; their son 
John “Ansel”; Ansel’s wife Persis; their daughter Delsa; Delsa’s husband 
Robert; and two of Ansel and Persis’s sons, Claude C. and Guy Chadwick.  Each 
has a grave marker.
	
There is a John Chadwick family monument on this lot, and the top of it bears 
the following inscription:

JOHN CHADWICK
BORN JULY 6, 1828
DIED FEB. 6, 1902
Father has gone but not
forgotten.

Note:  John Chadwick’s grave marker is inscribed with the dates 1829 – 1902, 
whereas the inscription on the top of the monument shows July 6, 1828 – Feb. 
6, 1902.
