This is to certify that Mr. Franklin Ward aged 31 years of Vassar, Tuscola County & State of 
Michigan, and Miss Sarah B. Maxwell aged 28 years of Vassar, Tuscola Co. & State of Michigan 
were by me joined in matrimony according to the laws of the State of Michigan on the thirty 
first day of December 1865 at Vassar.

I certify that on the third day of December AD 1865 at Watertown in the county aforesaid 
I, Charles B. Mills, joined in marriage John L. Tompkins of Rich, County of Lapeer in the 
State of Michigan aged 24 years, and Jane N. Gray of Watertown, County of Tuscola and State 
of Michigan aged twenty years; that the parties did then and there solemnly declare that 
they took each other as Husband & Wife; and that there were present as witnesses 
Jacob L. Brown and Anna M. Brown of said Watertown.  Dated at Watertown this third 
day of December AD one thousand eight hundred and sixty five.
