January 9th, 1829 and departed this life on January 27th, 1913. He came to Michigan when a child to the Indian reserve. At the age of 25 he was united in marriage to Mary Impson and to this union 8 children were born, 6 boys and 2 girls, 3 boys preceding him to the other world. In 1862 he enlisted in the 9th Michigan Cavalry and served until the close of the war and was mustered out with an honorable discharge. He was one of twenty that went from Pine Grove, Elias Nash being the only one left. He was wounded in one of the last battles fought and carried the bullet in his body down to the grave. Mr. Morse was a kind and loving husband and father and lived a good moral life, a few weeks before his departure he accepted Christ as his savior and died in triumphs of living faith in God. He called his children to his bedside and admonished them not to spend their days as he had done, but to serve the Lord. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, 3 sons and two daughters and a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the Pine Grove school house, Tuesday, January 28th, conducted by Rev. H.W. Carpenter. Interment was made into the Pine Grove cemetery. Additional Comments: Manley is my ancestor. He used his middle name frequently as his first name, most notably being listed as Miles M. Morse in the 1860 Census. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/vanburen/obits/m/morse21312nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
