August 14th, 1840 and departed this life at her home in Pine Grove, Sunday afternoon, May 23rd, 1915, aged 74 years, 4 months and 9 days. At the age of 12 she came to Pine Grove township with her parents. At the age of 15 she was united in marriage to Manley Miles Morse, who died January 27th, 1913. To this union were born 8 children, 6 sons and 2 daughters. David D. who died Sept. 20th, 1874, aged 2 months and 19 days; Sherman Ulysses, who died December 1872, aged 8 years, 8 months and 4 days; Leo E, who died December 28th, 1904, besides the dead are living: Samuel R, Mrs. Martha Camfield, Alvin M, and Mrs. Pearl Chandler, all of Pine Grove and Eugene Morse of Gladwin. She has always been a good wife and loving mother, she has always been a Christian woman, belonging to the Free Will Baptist church of Gobleville for many years. Besides the children she leaves to mourn her loss are two sisters, Mrs. Rachel McPhail of Washington and Mrs. Elizabeth Hawk of Grand Rapids, besides a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 o'clock, May 26th. They were conducted by Rev. Carpenter. Interment was made in Old Pine Grove cemetery. Additional Comments: The obituary states Mary Louesa, however her middle name is Louisa. Also she married Manley at the age of 13, not 15. She lied about her age.
