He was a Private in the Westchester County New York Militia, 3rd Regiment (Rev), and Corporal in the 147th Regiment (Woods) NY Militia. "Albany NY U. S. Pension Records 1818-1872" shows him transferring to Van Buren County, MI as does "NY Military Equipment Claims, War of 1812". He is listed in the 1840 Van Buren County Census. Additional Comments: According to an on-line bio, William was born 9 Dec 1762 in Harlem, Bronx, NY. In 1786 he married Maritije Maria Smith. He is listed in the 1840 Michigan Pension Census. He died in Paw Paw 6 Sep 1846.
