Mr. Rich had been in poor health for some time; at last his heart failing caused his death. He leaves a wife and three children and two grandchildren, one brother, and one sister and a large circle of friends to mourn his demise. Philo Sherman Rich was born in 1835, in the town of Salem, on the same farm where he always resided until his death. March 4, 1863, he was married to Lydia Elizabeth Wheelock, and in time 4 children were born to them, Burt S. Rich, who resides in Detroit; an infant son, Harry W., and Libbie, who are deceased; also his wife, Lydia Elizabeth Rich, died Oct. 18, 1869. On March 31, 1872, he married again, Emeline A. Shieffield (sic) Lapham, to whom two children were born: Emma Louse Robinson, who resides in Chicago, and John Kenneth, who still resides at the old home. Mr. Rich was well known and respected in the town and was kind and obliging to his neighbors in all times of trouble, always giving a kind word and a helping hand. His funeral was Sunday at 2 o'clock, at Lapham's church, conducted by Rev. H. Palmer. His remains were placed in the cemetery, where one of the largest funerals followed him to his last resting place. We wish to extend our thanks to our friends and neighbors for their kindness shown us in our bereavement, and also for the beautiful flowers. dz
