Mr. Collins received his BA degree from Bowling Green Business University (KY) while working with the accounting firm of James R. Meany & Assoc., and became a CPA in 1955 while managing a Stuckey store in Benton, Ark. He joined the staff of General Motors at Allison Division in Indianapolis that same year. He was soon promoted to GM s headquarters in Detroit and was consistently honored with more responsible positions, retiring as Director of Finance in 1995. Mr. Collins was predeceased by his mother Hilda C. Dickason and his father John L. Collins; survivors include his brother Jack A. Collins, nieces Denise Hunsaker and Jan Miles; nephew John R. Collins; stepmother Mildred U. Collins; step-sister Dorothy Breakfield; step-daughter Maureen Charmley and step-son Tom Griswold; former wives Monica Collins and Virginia Palmer Dodd; dear friend and caregiver Evelyn Smith and a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She attended Liggett School of Grosse Pointe, MI and graduated from David Lipscomb College, Nashville, TN. Denise attained a Masters Degree from the Ohio State University in 1988. She worked for Bell System Companies, AT&T and more recently Lucent Technologies for 30 years. Especially remembered for her love of music and work with piano students, Denise won an international music competition in composition. She was an active member of All Shepherds Lutheran Church of Lewis Center, OH. Denise was also active in her son s sports interests, especially hockey, and her daughter s dance and music pursuits. At her death, Denise was surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her beloved and loving children Megan and Scott Edwards of Powell, OH; father and mother Cyril and Virginia Carels of Detroit, MI; sister and brother-in-law Cynthia and Mike Henderson of Tabernacle NJ; brother William Carels of Las Vegas, NV; Dave Edwards of Powell, OH and an extended loving family and numerous friends.
