Born in Istanbul in 1911. Survivor of the 1915 Genocide of the Armenian population by the Ottaman Turkish Empire. Came to the U.S., married Araxi and had 2 children. Had a successful shoe repair business. Retired at age 68. Loved gardening, backgammon and playing cards, a longtime member of the Knights of Vartan and dedicated to the Armenian church community. Endured his illness with courage and will be remembered as a kind and gentle man. Beloved husband of the late Araxi; dear father of Ronald (Audrey) Chrovian and Mrs. Ilene (Vahram) Fantazian; dear grandfather of Mrs. Patricia (Jeffrey) Poeszaf, George (Pamela) Fantazian, Janine Fantazian, Christa and Caren Chrovian; dear great grandfather of Cailin Fantazian; dear brother of Vartan Chrovian and family; also mourned by many relative and friends. Visitation Friday 6-9 p.m. Prayers 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Armenian Church, Southfield. Funeral service Saturday 11 a.m. at the church. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Knights of Vartan service Saturday 12:30 p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel. Family requests memorial gifts to St. John’s Armenian Church.
