His burial was to take place today at Mt. Olivet Cemetey with services this morning at Holy Trinity Church, Sixth and Porter streets. For 19 years Mr. Doemer was the proprietor of the confectionery store at 1061 Michigan avenue, a site he selected as conveniently on the route of children attending the three schools, Holy Trinity, Houghton and the old Wilkins School, now the High School of Commerce. Boys and girls, now men and women, patronized his counters probably every day of their lives, certainly on the days that pennies were available. On week days his store was "on the way to school" and on Sundays it was the stopping place of many youngsters' afternoon walks on the avenue." Until the illness three years ago that resulted in his death, Mr. Doemer made his own candy and ice creams. He always refused to augment his stock by buying from wholesalers and during the war, when sugar was scarce, he curtailed his trade rather than sell the "manufactured kind." Mr. Doemer, who was 67 years old, died early Monday of a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Anna, and four sons, Anthony, Raymond, Edwin and Elmer. He was born in Detroit in 1856, on the site of the present Receiving Hospital.
