SHELDON CEMETERY
Est. ca 1839
Canton Historic Pioneer Cemetery

THIS PIONEER CEMETERY IS NAMED AFTER TIMOTHY SHELTON,
WHO IN 1825 PUCHASED LAND AND APPLIED FOR A LAND
GRANT IN THIS AREA THAT BECAME KNOWN AS SHELDON'S
CORNERS AND WOULD ULTIMATELY BECOME PART OF 
CANTON TOWNSHIP. CANTON'S EARLIEST PIONEER FAMILIES
AND VETERANS FROM WAR DATING BACK TO THE CIVIL WAR
REST HERE IN THIS CEMETERY.
