(Too worn to read. Carmi G. Briggs and his wife Ann adopted Emily Maltby, 
after her mother died in 1863.  She was born 4 Jul 1859 in England.  Her 
parents were William Maltby and his wife Frances.  It appears she died about 
1882-83 - at the age of 23 yrs. One of Emily's brothers, Fred Maltby was 
adopted by the Warner family of Farmington, MI. Fred later became the governor 
for the State of Michigan.
