Saunders Passes After More than Year's Illness" While knowledge of her serious condition softened somewhat the shock to her immediate family and intimate friends, the passing late Friday afternoon of Mrs. W. L. Saunders will be a sorrowful evnt to all who knew her. Mrs. Saunders had been critically ill for a numbe of months and ehr death had been anticipated serveral times during recent days, but her cheerful disposition and fortitude were united with a prayerful hope of the family to enable her to pass through one crisis after another. She had been a sufferer with sinus trouble for several years and later developed Bright's disease. She had been confined to her bed for more than a year. Her illness became alarming about ten days ago and Friday afternoon about 5:00 she passed away peacefully and quietly, surrounded by her beloved family, to whom her entire life had been devoted. The prominence fo the family and its long residence in Cadillac had given Mrs. Saunders a share with her husband in the hearts of the residents, even though she was not active in public affairs, other than the numerous charities she assisted and her church affiliation. Mary Graham was born in Cape Vincent, New York, Sept. 22, 1863, the daughter of Archibald and Margaret Graham. She was married to W. L. Saunders Nov. 9, 1881 in Big Rapids, at her home. Before going to Big Rapids to live she had lived for a short time in Cadillac and it was during that period that she became acquainted with her husband-to-be. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Saunders came to Cadillac, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Saunders saw Cadillac grow from a lumber town to its present status and knew intimately the various stages in its growth. She is survived by her husband, two children--Clyde of Saulte Ste. Marie and Mrs. Marian Kelly of Cadillac; five grandchildren, one great grand child; three brothers, William, Joseph and Jim Graham of Big Rapids. One brother, John, died in Cadillac in fall of 1928. One daughter, Blanche, died when two years old. Mrs. Saunders left the request that no flowers be sent. Funeral services wil be held at the home, 432 East Harris Street, at 2:30 p.m. Monday with Rev. P.V. Dawe of the Congregational church, of which Mrs. Saunders was member, officiating. Mrs. Clyde Saunders, daughter Mary and Son Harold, were expected to arrive from the Soo today. Mr. Saunders has been here for a week. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Saunders of Cleveland are expected here for the funeral.
