Redman of Caro, formerly of Traverse City, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Covenant Cooper Medical Center, due to complications from surgery. He was 63. He was born on July 15, 1940 in Antioch Township. He grew up in Mesick and graduated from Mesick High School, where he played football. Mr. Redman was a member of the FFA (Future Farmers of America) in school. He grew up hunting and fishing with his dad in the Mesick hills and backwaters. Hunting and fishing was the love of his life. He started working at the Traverse City State Hospital in 1961. After the closing of the hospital in Traverse City he transferred to the Caro Center, where he retired in 1997. Mr. Redman was also a lifelong bus driver, starting in Mesick in 1960, then to Traverse City and retired from Caro schools in 2002, where he continued subbing. He will be extremely missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Gale; mother, Alice; and daughter, Gerry Lynn. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Duane Miller officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Collon Funeral Home, 302 S. State St., Caro and from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Caro United Methodist Church Youth or to the Caro Community School Building Fund.
