Katherina Hipes

MANTON - Katherina Hipes of Manton died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 at Plainwell 
Pines Nursing Center near Kalamazoo after a five month illness. She was 78.

She was born April 27, 1925 in Saalfeldon, Austria.

She married Robert Hipes in Salsburg, Austria in 1945.

Mrs. Hipes grew up in Austria and attended school there. After her wedding, she 
lived in Italy and Austria before moving to Manton in 1957.

She worked at Manton Industries until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed her 
home and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter, Helen (Fred) Schulz of Kalamazoo; granddaughters, 
Sandi Goodacre (Rudy Mikuska) of Manton and Debora (Mike) Holmes of Traverse 
City; grandsons, John (Stacy) Goodacre of Vicksburg and Rick (Tammy) Goodacre 
of Portage; great-grandchildren, Rick and Treasa Wetzig, Alex Smith, Justin and 
Josh Goodacre, Erin Goodacre and Jaxon Mikuska; sisters Media of Germany and 
Clara of Austria; and several nieces and nephews in Europe.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cathy Ann, in 1959 and her 
husband in 1967.

A graveside service is 1 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Manton.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton.
