      TRAVERSE CITY - Victor L. Bartlette, Jr., 71, of Traverse City, died 
Wednesday morning at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Born Nov. 29, 1927, in Rockford, he was the son of Victor and Rosebert 
(Brown) Bartlette, Sr. On July 28, 1947, in Norfolk, Va., he married Shirley 
Lannin.
      Victor was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. He 
traveled extensively for his job. He was a service manager for the Cadillac 
Agency in California and then worked for 13 years as a manager of the Motel 6 
motels, retiring in 1989. He was a consultant for the Blair water project and 
most recently for Earth Tech. in Grawn. Victor was a member of the American 
Legion Post No. 35 in Traverse City and he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and 
hunting.
      
      He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Sterling.
      Cremation has taken place. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11 
a.m. Monday at Sherman-Mesick Cemetery with Rev. Dean Baily officiating. 
Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Cherryland Post No. 2780.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Myofibrosis Foundation.
      Arrangements were handled by Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
