In Anoka, Minn., Sept 14th, 1884, after a long and painful illness, Mr. Orlo H. Fitch, aged 25 years. Besides a large circle of acquaintances and friends, he leaves a wife and little child to mourn the loss of husband and father. The subject of the above sketch was the husband of Cora D. Babcock, who left Gouverneur, St. Lawrence Co., N.Y. four years ago with her brothers Zera and Fred, for a home in Dakota. Her many friends sympathize with her in the great bereavement and time of sorrow. Note from Submitter: Cora was my great grandmother on my mother's father's side of the family. Mr. Fitch was her first husband. They married in Mitchell SD on May 20 1882. They had a daughter Hazel born Jan 3 1883. On Nov 21 1885 she married Frank Wallace Owen, my great grandfather, in Bridgewater, SD. They had seven children but the first two, twins, the boy lived only 7 days and the girl only 14 days. I have a transcribed copy of a diary Cora kept of her move from NY to SD back to NY for the winter after Orlo died and back to SD. It tells of her travels and people she stayed with along the way. Friends and family. How she met Both of her husbands. Her best friend had married Frank a month before she married Orlo. Frank married a Lizzie Alink but she died on April 7 1884. So all four were good friends. From the diary I believe Orlo's family lived. Talks of his sister Carrie and his father. Linda Rutz Sahuarita, AZ
